Public space and landscape: bespoke concrete benches and paving
Bespoke concrete benches, street furniture, graphic paving and site-specific elements. Use, appearance and the practical conditions of construction are considered together.
A public-space element belongs to the whole place. Bench geometry, paving patterns and transitions to neighbouring materials form a shared design task. We make project-specific fine-concrete forms and surfaces for these settings.
Surface requirements, drainage, joints, support and fixing arrangements need coordination with the designers. With large elements, transport, lifting and the construction sequence influence the manufacturing approach from the outset.
For the Marcel Breuer memorial in Pécs, we manufactured a six-metre fine-concrete bench and graphic paving, with installation on site. BIVAK studio’s design combines the suspended bench with recessed, painted graphics.
